UPDATE: It was later reported that the victim was not raped, the police confirmed. The postmortem report has shown that the girl had not been raped, despite the social media claims. The claims circulating on social media that the victim’s eyes were gouged out and her arm amputated are also false. Also, the claim that acid was poured on her body, is untrue.

In a gut-wrenching incident, a two-and-a-half year old girl was strangled to death and her eyes gouged out after her parents reportedly failed to repay a loan of Rs 10,000. Police have arrested two accused in relation to the incident.

The incident took place in Tappal town in Uttar Pradesh. Media reports said the girl’s body was found on June 2 in a dumping ground near her house, three days after she went missing.
