The Man & Kingslayer Thwart Baron Corbin’s Special Guest Swerve, Stand Tall At WWE Stomping Grounds

The Man & Kingslayer Thwart Baron Corbin’s Special Guest Swerve, Stand Tall At WWE Stomping Grounds

After two weeks of stringing audiences along, Baron Corbin finally revealed his hand-picked special guest referee just seconds before challenging Universal Champion Seth Rollins in the main event of Sunday night’s WWE Stomping Grounds pay-per-view.

Corbin was given the opportunity to select his own personal referee for the match after claiming that he was screwed over by shoddy officiating in his last title match, just two weeks at in Saudi Arabia.

Since then, Rollins has made it his mission to ensure that anyone aligning himself with Corbin, or anyone even thinking about filling the spot of guest ref felt his wrath – and by wrath, we mean the cold side of a steel chair.

In the end, the big reveal turned out to be none other than the so-called “Sassy Southern Belle” Lacey Evans…

As you could imagine, the Washington crowd filling the Tacoma Dome didn’t appreciate this seemingly out-of-left-field decision, although it made sense given Rollins’ understandable restraint in not wanting to attack a woman – no matter how capable she may be of defending herself in this instance.

That strategy seemed to pay off for most of the match on Sunday night, as Evans repeatedly looked the other way and allowed Corbin to cheat on numerous occasions. She even changed the rules of the match in mid-motion, throwing out count-out altogether, and later removing disqualifications as well.

Nearing the end of the match, Evans nailed the champion with a low blow and paved the way for Corbin to steal the title. At this point the trickery became too much for Rollins’ real-life girlfriend Becky Lynch, as the Raw Women’s Champion hit the ring and laid waste to her new rival and two-time challenger.

The Kingslayer and The Man ultimately stood tall to send Stomping Grounds off the air, after Rollins hit one final Curb Stomp on Corbin, and a secondary referee that was brought in to replace Evans made the final three-count.
