Who Was Originally Scheduled to Main Event This Year’s WWE Money in the Bank PPV?
This year’s WWE Money in the Bank PPV concluded with The Monster Among Men Braun Strowman standing tall as the new Mr. Money in the Bank, after Strowman was able to win the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match main event.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, however, original plans did not call for the Ladder match to main event WWE Money in the Bank this year, and instead called for Ronda Rousey to headline in her first title match against Nia Jax. Earlier in the night, Alexa Bliss won the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match, and the idea was to end the PPV with the major surprise cash-in from Bliss, but that of course did not happen, and WWE instead went with the babyface ending for the PPV.

With regards to the length of the show, the report points out that media was informed a couple days before the PPV that it was slated to end around 10:30pm EST, with the big four PPV events – Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series, being designated for an 11pm EST ending time. However, WWE officials realised early on during Money in the Bank that there was no realistic way it would end by 10:30, and it in fact did not end until 11:20pm, making the event, including the Kickoff show, over 5 hours long.
