In a battle of the promotion’s top two contenders, Moose defeated Eli Drake this week on Impact Wrestling to officially earn an opportunity to challenge Austin Aries for the Impact World Heavyweight Championship. The match will go down in the main event of Slammiversary XVI on July 22nd, broadcast live on pay-per-view.

The bout between Moose and Eli Drake was actually pre-recorded at a recent House of Hardcore show, and you can check out highlights above.

Moose (real name: Quinn Ojinnaka) is a former NFL star playing 62 professional games with the Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams and Indianapolis Colts. He turned to wrestling in 2012 training under Curtis “Big Cat” Hughes before signing with Ring of Honor, and later Impact Wrestling. Moose has also gained a tremendous following working the U.S. independent scene.

This will be his first opportunity at the Impact World Heavyweight Championship.
