China Spindle bearing perform well in Leling Wind Farm
According to China Energy News, a wind farm in Leling City, Shandong Province, has performed well with wind turbines using China spindle bearings since it was fully connected to the grid in 2020. These wind turbines have not experienced any failures during operation, and their core operating parameters, such as operating temperature, iron content in lubricating oil, and vibration monitoring data, are all better than the industry average. It is particularly worth mentioning that the operating temperature of the spindle bearing has been maintained at around 40 degrees Celsius, far lower than the 65 degrees Celsius specified by the industry standard.
As a key component in wind turbines, the spindle bearing has long been regarded as one of the important challenges for the localization of wind power equipment due to its technical requirements of high precision, high load capacity and long life. With the growing demand for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the wind power industry, domestic wind power equipment manufacturers have gradually overcome this technical difficulty. At the Leling Wind Farm, wind turbines using domestic main bearings still show excellent performance even under complex wind conditions.
Leling Wind Farm is a typical plain wind farm, with wind turbines distributed in vast fields. Although the annual average wind speed is only 4.96 m/s, the instantaneous wind speed is high and the wind direction changes frequently, which brings severe challenges to the wind turbines. However, since it was fully connected to the grid, the wind farm has generated an average of 2,500 hours of electricity per year, with a cumulative power generation of 920 million kWh, enough to meet the annual electricity needs of about 150,000 households.
In addition to operating temperature, the China spindle bearings of the Leling Wind Farm also performed well in terms of wear and iron content in lubricating oil, and all monitoring data were within the normal range. This is due to the continuous advancement of domestic main bearing technology, such as the use of high-quality steel and special processing to improve the bearing's fatigue and impact resistance, and the optimization of design to improve load stability.
With the development of China spindle bearing technology, domestic wind farms are becoming less dependent on imported main bearings. Domestic main bearings are not only comparable to international advanced levels in performance, but their cost-effectiveness also helps control the overall cost of wind power projects. In addition, domestic manufacturers are also more outstanding in after-sales service, response speed and technical support, providing a guarantee for the stable operation of wind power equipment.
Despite a late start, domestic wind power equipment manufacturers have continuously improved the competitiveness of their products through technological innovation. Take Envision Energy as an example. The company has successfully developed a number of self-developed main bearings, which have been used worldwide. It is expected that in the next few years, the market share of domestic main bearings will further increase.
As the global wind power installed capacity continues to increase, wind power equipment produced in China will play a more important role in the international market and contribute to the sustainable development of China and the world.
