Chanel presents AW15 pre collection in Salzburg
Feathered hats and breeches, bejewelled pretzels, embroideries and braiding
were just some of the craftwork seen at Chanel’s AW15 pre collection
presented in Salzburg this week, which was part of the luxury house’s
Métiers d’Art show celebrating its artisans.
In a salon lit with candelabras, models wore capelets, frogged jackets,
side-striped trousers, as well as intricate lace dresses, corduroy and a
plethora of ribbons.
The event also saw the screening of the new Chanel film Reincarnation
featuring the newly crowned British Fashion Awards model of the year Cara
Delevingne and Pharrell Williams.
The video is based around an anecdote from the 1950s, when Gabrielle Chanel
met a young elevator operator in a hotel in the Austrian city, wearing a
jacket which eventually inspired the iconic Chanel design.
Karl Lagerfeld has re-told this story with the help of Geraldine Chaplin,
Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams, who wrote and composed CC The World,
the film’s soundtrack punctuated by Cara Delevingne’s voice, to accompany
baroque imagery that plunges us into the opulence of the Austro-Hungarian
Empire.
