2019 Oscar Nominations: Films, Stars Up For Academy Awards

BEVERLY HILLS, CA —Nominees for the 91st annual Academy Awards are being announced Tuesday by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills, California.

Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” and Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Favourite” tied for the most Academy Award nominations, with 10 each. With “Roma,” the video streaming giant Netflix has it’s first best picture nomination, and Marvel’s “Black Panther” is the first superhero movie that’s ever gotten a best picture nomination.

Also, Spike Lee has his first Oscar nomination for directing with “BlacKkKlansman.” The nomination comes 30 years after he got a writing nomination for 1989’s “Do the Right Thing.”

The Oscars are Feb. 24. Following Kevin Hart’s exit as emcee, the telecast is currently host-less.
