Bosch Pins Way Into Championship Match
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Minnesota State University Moorhead senior wrestler Blake Bosch is one win away from his goal of being a national champion.
Bosch made quick work of Wheeling Jesuit’s Dustin Warner in the 133-pound semifinals at the NCAA Division II Championships on Saturday pinning, recording a win by fall in 1:58 to reach the championship match for the first time in his collegiate career.
The Dragons’ last national wrestling champion was in 2006 when Nate Baker claimed the title at 165 pounds.
The Dragon senior won his 25th straight match in impressive fashion. He scored a takedown and threw Warner to his back, finishing the pin in just 1:58 to reach the finals. Bosch, a two-time All-American, is assured of his best-ever finish at the national meet.
Bosch (32-1) will face Michael Labry (33-1) of Ashland in the championship match at 6 p.m. this evening. Labry defeated Carmine Ciotti of Gannon by a 7-1 decision in the other semifinal match. Labry is ranked first in the nation while Bosch is ranked second.
