Dick “Tug” Taylor Remembered

Dick “Tug” Taylor Remembered

Earlier this month, Tugboat Taylor, a WWF enhancement talent in the late 1980s and regular personality of the Global Wrestling Federation out of the Dallas Sportatoium in the early 90s passed away. While he wasn’t a huge name in wrestling, he did get a nice television eulogy that his son Chaz Tayler (also a GWF regular) passed along to Mick Foley, who posted it publically for the fans.
While his run in the WWF is not really remembered, fans of GWF wrestling weekdays on TV remember when he went from heel to face to save his son Chaz during an attack, and the two teamed up against the “Dirty” Davis Brothers in a feud that was all over GWF Tv.
Tug was a powerlifter from Iowa that started wrestling back in 1980 and made Texas his stomping grounds for many years. He wrestled for the WWF, NWA, World Class, Southwest Wrestling,  and other places during his career. He first debuted for the GWF in the summer of 1991 when the company first started and was there until late 1994 when the company’s glory days were behind it. He wrestled for a few more years before he had his last match and then spent his time running his own gym where he trained many different wrestlers over the years,

Tug passed away earlier this month at the age of 71. The video of his passing, featuring Chaz Taylor, can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/erolemodel/videos/10155191619758546/
