Antonio Brown Surrenders On Florida Arrest Warrant

HOLLYWOOD, FL — Former NFL star Antonio Brown surrendered to Florida police Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest stemming from an altercation at his Florida home involving his trainer and another man. The man claimed he was battered by Brown and the trainer.

Officer Christian Lata of the Hollywood Police Department said Thursday the incident from an took place 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown’s home in the Broward County community, where police had also been called earlier this month and in December regarding domestic incidents.

“When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the alleged victim who stated he was battered by Mr. Antonio Brown and Mr. Brown’s trainer, Mr. Glenn Holt,” Lata said Thursday. Holt was taken into custody and charged with one count of burglary with battery, police said.

“Officers attempted to make contact with Mr. Brown but were unsuccessful,” Lata said. Brown was charged with one count of burglary with battery, one count burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and one count of criminal mischief less than $1,000, according to Lata.

Brown arrived at Broward County Jail around 10 p.m., as first reported by TMZ. The wide receiver, wearing turquoise pants and a matching blazer buttoned over a green jacket, initially walked out of the jail a few minutes after arriving, but then returned after conferring with his lawyer, WFOR-TV reported.

Earlier this month, the Police Athletic League of Hollywood announced that the organization had returned a donation from Brown and issued a trespass warning to keep the 31-year-old athlete away from athletic league property.

“Recently, Mr. Brown has had incidents which necessitated police intervention. These incidents have caused an irreparable rift between the police department and PAL and Mr. Brown,” Lata said at the time. He also said Brown treated the officers with “disrespect and disdain.”

Brown, who is a free agent, played nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders last year but released before ever playing a regular-season game following several off-the-field incidents. He was then signed by the New England Patriots, who released Brown in September after a second woman in 10 days accused him of sexual misconduct.

“We made the decision to sever ties between Mr. Brown and the Hollywood Police Athletic League,” Lata said earlier. “We did not want our youth to be subject to this type of behavior nor emulate the actions of Mr. Brown.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
