Backstage Impact News: Jimmy Jacobs’ BFG Role, Top Names Possibly Out, Heat On El Patron?
PWInsider.com is reporting the following backstage Impact Wrestling news, stemming from this week’s Bound for Glory PPV and TV tapings in Ottawa, Canda.
-Another regime change appears to be taking place in Impact Wrestling, with Scott D’Amore now taking the reigns of the company. D’Amore was reportedly the sole producer of the Bound for Glory main event title match, with Sonjay Dutt, Abyss and Gail Kim assisting in producing other bouts and the Knockouts match.
-There was some frustration coming from talent of the Nashville era regarding how much attention Scott D’Amore was paying to the Canadian talents at the tapings, with the fear that some of the some of the old Nashville names are being phased out of the company. There has also been talk of talents accepting lesser money deals, with the added fear that more top names might be leaving the company if they refuse to accept less money.
As we noted last week, James Storm’s Impact deal expires in January, but given tonight is the last set of TV tapings until next year, it’s possible tonight could be Storm’s final appearance with Impact Wrestling.
-Recently released WWE writer Jimmy Jacobs worked backstage at Bound for Glory, assisting with the Team Impact vs Team AAA match.
-Alberto El Patron flew back home from Ottawa today, so he will not be present at the final set of Impact Wrestling TV tapings taking place tonight. In other Patron news, his promo from Bound for Glory was cut from The UK airing of the PPV. Patron also had his own locker room for this week’s tapings in Canada, something with which some of the other Impact talents were unhappy.
