Game of Thrones Showrunner Says Cersei Lannister Killed Ser Pounce

In a break from the show’s custom of depicting deaths on-screen (and in keeping a lid on such things in the meantime), Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff revealed that King Tommen’s cat (and Internet sensation) Ser Pounce is dead, having been killed off-screen in the time since he was last seen in Season 6.

And who could commit such a feline felony? Why, none other than the late king’s sinister mom, Cersei Lannister.

“Cersei hated the name ‘Ser Pounce’ so much she could not allow him to survive,” Benioff informed Entertainment Weekly. “So she came up with her most diabolical [execution]. Ser Pounce’s death was so horrible we couldn’t even put it on the air.”

“That cat was really not fun to work with,“ Benioff added. “There’s a reason the phrase ‘like herding cats’ came into existence.”
