Glasgow thank Connacht for support as Finn Russell remains in hospital in Dublin

GLASGOW WARRIORS OUT-HALF Finn Russell remains under observation in Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital after suffering a serious head injury against Connacht last Saturday.

The Scottish international collided with team-mate Zander Fagerson in the first minute of his team’s 16-11 defeat to Connacht in Galway over the weekend.

Russell was transferred from University Hospital in Galway to Dublin and his condition has improved significantly, with Glasgow confirming he does not require surgery.

Gregor Townsend described the injury as ‘very serious’ and Glasgow have thanked Connacht for their support and assistance.

“Glasgow Warriors would like to thank the Connacht medical team, players and staff for their support,” the statement read.

“Finn and his family really appreciate all the messages of support, with which they have been inundated.”

The 23-year-old is expected to be discharged later this week. He will miss Scotland’s summer tour of Japan.
