Kris Statlander, one of the best unsigned women on the American independent scene, was reportedly close to signing a deal with WWE before showing up in All Elite Wrestling last week.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Statlander, who worked an AEW DARK match last week and a tag team match on this week’s AEW Dynamite in Chicago, was in talks with WWE to the point where they expected her to start at the Performance Center in January.

Statlander, who is only in her third year as a wrestler, is one of the up-and-coming gems that will likely be a major name within the next few years regardless of where she ends up signing long-term.

She has gained a lot of attention in 2019 working all over the world, most notably for Beyond Wrestling as a key player in their weekly Uncharted Territory series.
