Mamadou Sakho fails drug test; omitted by Liverpool
Premier League side Liverpool have announced the omission with immediate effect of French international and central defender Mamadou Sakho after he failed a recent drugs test from all future squads until an investigation has been completed into the matter.
According to our colleagues at RMC, Sakho failed the drugs test because of a chemical that was in a fat burner product that he had been taking. He is not understood to have informed Liverpool of this fat burner product and that he was taking it before he failed a drugs test, with his reasoning being that he was using it only on a personal basis in an attempt to rid of excess fat.

The player has been given until Tuesday by UEFA to submit a B sample.
Liverpool’s statement read as follows on the matter at hand:
“The owners, manager Jurgen Klopp, chief executive Ian Ayre and the player himself all felt it was in the best interests for him not to be available while the process was ongoing.”
French reports suggest that it was indeed the footballer himself who requested not to be involved with this situation hanging over his head, even though he is perfectly allowed to participate until any investigation is completed.
Should he be found guilty of wrongdoing by UEFA, he could risk a 6 month suspension which would force him out of action for EURO 2016 with France.
