In a blockbuster acquisition announced Thursday morning in Tokyo, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s parent company Bushiroad purchased popular joshi promotion World Wonder Ring Stardom, also known simply as Stardom.

F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer provided more information on the acquisition noting that Stardom will be run by Kix Road, a subsidiary of the larger Bushiroad, which will be renamed Bushiroad Fight Co, Ltd. effective December 1st.

Furthermore, while the company does own New Japan Pro-Wrestling and the misconception by many will be that they themselves have purchased Stardom, the two will remain totally separate entities and this is reportedly not a situation where women’s matches will begin taking place at NJPW events.

Their streaming service Stardom World will also remain intact, so no crossover with NJPW World is planned at this time either.
