Notes on Charlotte/Lynch Angle From Raw, Havoc Set For Starrcast
As seen on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Becky Lynch refused to apologize to the McMahon family for her recent actions. As a result, McMahon decided to suspend Lynch for 60 days and take her out of the previously announced Raw Women’s Championship match against Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35. The Chairman of WWE then revealed that he is replacing Lynch with Charlotte Flair, who is now set to wrestle Rousey at “The Grandest Stage of Them All” until further notice. Fans have reacted negatively to this choice to say the least, however, it looks like this is all part of the plan. Not only that, but it appears that this is an idea that Vince McMahon himself has had for this storyline for quite some time now.
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline discussed the angle after Raw went off the air for the evening. According to Meltzer, the idea to have Charlotte replace Becky Lynch in the WrestleMania 35 match is not primarily being done to play off of the growing disinterest from fans over seeing Flair in the match against Rousey. Meltzer says that McMahon outlined the storyline between Lynch, Flair, and Rousey months ago and it all just coincidentally just happens to be working better than originally planned. Meltzer has remained adamant over the past few weeks that Flair would be added to the match, but he says that it will actually be a Triple Threat match between the three women at WrestleMania 35 rather than a straight singles match.
Several new signees were announced last week by All Elite Wrestling, including Kenny Omega, Nyla Rose, Sammy Guevara, the Best Friends, and others. One other man who will be appearing on AEW regularly is Jimmy Havoc, and although he hasn’t been booked in a match for the show yet, it is likely that he will compete on Double or Nothing. Prior to the event, he will be part of the Starrcast convention, which also features numerous other wrestling stars of the past and present. Starrcast officially announced earlier today that Havoc will be on hand for the event during the weekend of Double or Nothing in May of this year. The Double or Nothing event and Starrcast festivities will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
