Ligue 1 side Bordeaux have this evening announced the appointment of Gustavo Poyet as their new manager with immediate effect.

Les Girondins have opted for a boss with South American background in an attempt to temper the South American contingent, with Malcom, Jonathan Cafu and Otavio amongst some of the most talented players in the squad.

The 50-year-old has a vast array of experiences to draw on including spells with Sunderland, Brighton and more recently Shanghai Shenhua.

The length of Poyet’s contract with Bordeaux has yet to be communicated.
