Official | Nottingham Forest sign winger Gil Dias on loan from AS Monaco
In efforts to push for promotion to the Premier League next season, Nottingham Forest have secured right-winger Gil Dias on loan for the upcoming 2018/19 campaign. Dias joins from AS Monaco after a loan spell in Italy with ACF Fiorentina, where he scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists across 27 Serie A appearances.
Looking to improve on a 17th place Championship finish in 2018, Nottingham Forest have brought in reinforcements in a way that resembles a Portuguese takeover of sorts. Dias is the third Portuguese signing for Forest this season, with Diogo Gonçalves also joining on loan and João Carvalho signing permanently for a record €15m fee.
Used primarily as an attacking right-winger, Dias boasts quick feet and an ability to beat his man off the dribble. The Portuguese attacker tends to cut in onto his stronger left-foot and will likely compliment his countrymen who will also play in more advanced positions for Forest.
Dias has been on the books for AS Monaco since January of 2015 but has been given few first team opportunities. This loan with Nottingham Forest will be his fourth successive spell away from his parent club, and perhaps his last. With an option to make the transfer permanent come the end of the season, it is hard to imagine a world where a promising talent like Gil Dias will go back to Monaco if he impresses for Forest.
