Montpellier have confirmed the departure of Olivier Dall’Oglio as manager during a press conference on Monday. Romain Pitau, a former midfielder of the club, will take charge in the interim until the international break in mid-November. 

Montpellier currently sit in 11th in Ligue 1 with a record of four wins and seven defeats. However, they have lost three on the bounce in the league, and the club’s start-of-season momentum has dissipated. Dall’Oglio’s sacking means that a quarter of Ligue 1 managers have lost their job in the past week. 

Pitau will take charge of the club until the World Cup at the earliest, Montpellier announced. Speaking in the press conference, the club’s president, Laurent Nicollin said, “We have to recreate desire and I hope on Saturday we will have huge support to win against Lyon, we need our fans.”  Pitau will take charge of a minimum of four games before the World Cup.
