NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 2015 NPF College Draft presented by Bownet took place at the CMA Theater inside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Wednesday, April 1 where 34 athletes from 10 different conferences were selected. Lauren Chamberlain from Oklahoma was the No. 1 pick for the USSSA Pride. Oklahoma teammate Shelby Pendley was selected No. 2 by the USSSA Pride making NPF history by becoming the first players from the same program to be selected back-to-back as the #1 and #2 pick in the NPF College Draft.

This marked the third year in a row that the Draft was held in Nashville and the first time in history the Draft was televised live nationally. The Draft was co-hosted by Bernie Guenther and Barb Jordan and televised live on CBS Sports Network.

Florida State pitcher Lacey Waldrop, the 2014 USA Softball Player of the Year, was selected third overall by the Chicago Bandits.

With the fourth overall pick, the leagues’ newest franchise, the Dallas Charge, selected Danielle Henderson from California as their first player drafted in franchise history. Older sister Jolene Henderson also from Cal holds the title of being the first player ever signed in franchise history. 

The Charge wrapped up the first round by drafting Minnesota utility player Kaitlyn Richardson.

The Pennsylvania Rebellion, who didn’t have a first-round pick, made three second-round selections at No. 6, 8 and 9 – Western Kentucky pitcher Miranda Kramer, Oklahoma State outfielder Shelby Davis and FSU shortstop Maddie O’Brien.

Rounding out the teams, Akron made its first pick in the third round, taking Auburn outfielder/first baseman Morgan Estell.

The Dallas Charge also chose to exercise their option offered to them by the League to make a “Market Choice Selection” prior to the 2015 NPF College Draft. The Market Choice Selection option afforded Dallas the opportunity to choose a player that was either originally from the state of Texas or competed in collegiate softball for a Texas college or university. Renada Davis from NC State University was the Dallas Charge Market selection and was announced during the live national telecast of the Draft between the 3rd and 4th rounds.

The NPF Draft was presented for the third consecutive year by Bownet.

Combat, Dick’s Sporting Goods, USSSA and The Village of Rosemont were all co – presenters for this year’s Draft and all were recognized on the CBS Sports Network live telecast as well.

Round sponsors for the Draft included Jaeger Sports (Round 1), Better Softball (Round 2), Swivel Vision (Round 3), Power Up Wedge (Round 4), Just Softball (Round 5), and V-Flex (Round 6).

The Pac-12 led all conferences with 9 selections followed by the SEC (6), ACC (6), Big 12 (4), Big Ten (2), Atlantic Sun (2), Conference USA (2), MAC (1), Mountain West (1), and Summit League (1).
