Oney Lorcan Joining 205 Live, Gronk/WWE, XFL Competitor to Fold?
The 205 Live roster has just announced that a current member of the NXT roster will be joining the show in the near future. This past Tuesday night, 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick announced that NXT’s Oney Lorcan is now a cruiserweight and will be part of the show going forward. Lorcan already made his debut on last night’s show when be brawled with Cedric Alexander after the end of his match against Ariya Daivari. For those who have not seen Lorcan’s work before, he has an intense and hard-hitting style of wrestling that will make him a standout competitor on 205 Live. Lorcan has been teaming up with UK strong style wrestler Danny Burch on NXT for a number of months now. Maverick made it clear that Lorcan will wrestle on 205 Live in addition to his regular duties with NXT.
Ever since Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement from professional football earlier this week, there have been numerous reports suggesting that his next destination may be WWE. “Gronk” helped Mojo Rawley win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2017, and the two of them are still said to be close friends, so the former NFL star certainly has connections within the company. Recently, Gronkowski joined WWE Superstars Braun Strowman, Mickie James, and Mojo Rawley at the USO-Metro’s 37th Annual Awards charity event on Tuesday. Gronkowski won the Merit Award during the event. Perhaps this is another sign that the former Patriots member could be in negotiations with the company for more appearances.

Vince McMahon was reportedly inspired to relaunch the XFL following the documentary about the original version of the league in 2015 on ESPN. However, the film’s director, Charlie Ebersol, had the same idea and decided to create the Alliance of American Football. The AAF premiered in 2018 and is already said to be on the brink of closing down. According to USA Today, AAF majority owner Tom Dundon revealed that the company has been unable to an agreement to become a developmental league for the NFL. PWInsider says that the league has also had issues with cash flow and needs a $250 million investment. Dundon is looking into options which include possibly shutting down AAF. He says that a decision will be made within the next few days.
