WWE Announces New Pay-Per-View Name, Lesnar to Defend Title
Ever since winning the Universal Championship from Goldberg at Wrestlemania, Brock Lesnar, for the most part, has not been seen or heard from. Raw has since been left without a top title for anybody to fight for. It appears now that fans of Lesnar will have to wait just a little while longer to see him return. Earlier today, the American Airlines Center in Dallas announced the date of his first Universal Championship defense. He will be defending the title in that very building on a new pay-per-view titled WWE Great Balls of Fire.
WWE has since confirmed that Great Balls of Fire is indeed a legitimate upcoming WWE pay-per-view, and it will be airing from Dallas on July 9th. Before the new pay-per-view name was revealed, the event was advertised under the name Bad Blood. Bad Blood was the name of a previous WWE event held in 1997 as well as the early 2000s. Since the event is held in July, this confirms that “The Best Incarnate” will not be appearing at Raw’s Extreme Rules show next month.
On the Raw after Wrestlemania this year, Paul Heyman suggested that Lesnar’s next opponet would be Roman Reigns. While plans could change, this match is still expected to headline Wrestlemania 34 next year for the Universal Championship. On that same show, Braun Strowman confronted Lesnar. With the continued dominance from Strowman over on Raw since that segment, it seems likely that “The Monster Among Men” will be the one to face Lesnar this summer. Then again, a few different names are rumored to face Lesnar soon and plans could change due to the recent “Superstar Shakeup.”
