Drew McIntyre defending his WWE Championship against Randy Orton at SummerSlam was officially confirmed on last night’s episode of Raw.

After it was hyped that he would be revealing his next target on the show, Orton kicked off last night’s Raw by issuing a SummerSlam challenge to McIntyre. McIntyre responded to Orton later in the episode and accepted the challenge.

The main event of last night’s show was McIntyre facing off with Dolph Ziggler in a rematch from Extreme Rules. This time, it was non-title and McIntyre was the one who picked the stipulation. McIntyre defeated Ziggler in an extreme rules match before the show-closing angle saw Orton give McIntyre an RKO and pose with the WWE Championship.

Sasha Banks became the new Raw Women’s Champion by defeating Asuka by countout. After Bayley counted the pin for Banks at Extreme Rules, Stephanie McMahon appeared last week and announced that Asuka and Banks would face off in a rematch where the title could change hands via pinfall, submission, countout, disqualification, or if anyone interfered.

Asuka was about to put Banks in the Asuka Lock but couldn’t focus due to it being shown on the video screen that Bayley was beating down Kairi Sane backstage. When Sane yelled out for her, Asuka went to help her and the referee counted Asuka out.
