WWE SmackDown overnight ratings down on Thanksgiving weekend
Overnight viewership for last night’s Thanksgiving weekend edition of SmackDown on Fox saw the show tie its lowest overnight number since October 16 with an average of 1.987 million viewers.
That’s down 10.3 percent from last week, but that would be expected with decreased television viewership on the day after Thanksgiving. The year-over-year drop from last year’s episode on the same weekend was 14.9 percent, almost the exact same as last week’s year-over-year drop.
SmackDown opened with 2.016 million viewers in hour one and dropped three percent in the second hour to 1.957 million. The show usually does grow slightly in audience as it goes on, so that is a somewhat unusual pattern.
Despite the fact that most other network programming was decades old holiday cartoon specials, Fox finished last in overall viewership with nothing else doing below 2.1 million viewers.
In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown averaged a 0.55 rating, down 8.3 percent from last week’s overnight number and 21.4 percent year-over-year. That trailed How the Grinch Stole Christmas and a Minions holiday special that both did a 0.7 on NBC, but SmackDown beat everything else on the networks.
In 18-34, SmackDown averaged the same 0.3 overnight rating as last week, down 33.3 percent year-over-year. That trailed the same two NBC specials and was tied for third place on the networks in that category.
