WWE SmackDown ratings down for second straight week

WWE SmackDown ratings down for second straight week

Final ratings are in for this past Friday’s Fastlane go-home edition of SmackDown. The show averaged 2.093 million viewers on Fox, down 3.6 percent from last week. It’s the lowest number for SmackDown since February 12.

The main competition on the night was the first round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament with various games airing on CBS and assorted cable channels. Those broadcasts dominated the network and cable ratings charts.

SmackDown drew a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 6.6 percent from last week. That beat everything else on television with the exception of the basketball games.

Daylight savings time likely also played a part in the number being down as the fast nationals showed a much higher than usual increase from hour one to hour two. This was the first week since the time change.

SmackDown drew a 0.34 rating in 18-34, down 2.9 percent from last week. That also beat everything else on TV except the tournament games.

Year-over-year, SmackDown was down 18.5 percent in overall viewership. There was no NCAA tournament last year as it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SmackDown was also down 28.8 percent in 18-49 and down 32 percent in 18-34 year-over-year.
