This week, four more offerings to conclude our “unique pairings” theme.

WCW Saturday Night: January 15th 1994
2 Cold Scorpio & Marcus Bagwell w/Theodore Long vs “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff & Paul Roma w/The Assassin
2 Cold and Bagwell were out for revenge after “Pretty Wonderful” had defeated them at Starrcade and the week prior to this. The Assassin provided an assist each time. Bagwell has the advantage until Orndorff drops him across the top rope. The heels work over Bagwell’s back as the crowd chant “Paulinha” at Roma (a take-off of “Paula,” directed at Orndorff.) Bagwell escapes a front facelock, but the referee doesn’t see a tag and Bagwell eats a double backelbow. Bagwell frees himself from a Roma bearhug, kicks him in the face and makes the hot tag. Scorpio connects with a flying clothesline to Roma, superkick to Orndorff and spin kick to Roma. Scorpio goes to dropkick Roma into Orndorff, who has his back turned, but a split second before contact is made, Orndorff drops down to fight with Bagwell. Scorpio catches Roma with a rolling cradle for the 1-2-3. After the bell, Orndorff clotheslines Scorpio and holds him down for Roma to splash from the top rope. Winners: 2 COLD SCORPIO & MARCUS BAGWELL. This was as dull as dishwater unless Scorpio was in the ring.

Saturday Night’s Main Event: November 14th 1992
WWF Tag Team Titles: Money Inc w/Jimmy Hart vs The Ultimate Maniacs
Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior were foes-turned-allies and were set to face Ric Flair and Razor Ramon at Survivor Series. Meanwhile, Money Inc had just toppled the Natural Disasters to regain the titles. The champions attack the challengers as soon as they enter. DiBiase tosses Warrior to the floor. Warrior runs in to return the favour then combines with Savage to hit a pair of double clotheslines. The Maniacs clear the ring once more and high five. Back inside, Savage atomic drops DiBiase into a Warrior punch. DiBiase does a Flair flop to the mat. Savage delivers a running hotshot and Warrior counters a backbodydrop into a suplex. DiBiase avoids a Warrior flying tackle and plants him into the mat. IRS applies a sleeper. Flair, Razor and Mr Perfect issue comments about the Maniacs not surviving at Survivor Series during the resthold. DiBiase locks on the Million Dollar Dream. Savage breaks it up with a high knee. Warrior and DiBiase clothesline each other and tag out. Savage goes on the offensive and hits IRS with his patented Macho elbow. DiBiase breaks up the pin. Cue a four man brawl. The champions are sent to the floor, where they opt to take their titles and run. Not satisfied, the Maniacs give chase, but get ambushed by Flair, Razor and Perfect in the aisle for a five-on-two beatdown. Warrior was fired before the Survivor Series prompting a reshuffle and abrupt face turn for Mr Perfect. This match was fun while it lasted. Winners via countout: THE ULTIMATE MANIACS.

Monday Night Raw: February 3rd 2003
World Tag Team Titles: Lance Storm & William Regal vs Booker T & Goldust
Goldust informs Booker that they should part ways if they lose, as he doesn’t want to hold Booker back from going onto bigger and better things. Booker consents, but is insistent on victory. Goldust and Storm have a brief exchange. Storm catches Booker with an STO. Booker counters a hiptoss with a clothesline. Storm lands a jawbreaker. Regal takes over with uppercuts, a snapmare and shoulder tackle. Booker comes back with a flying forearm and reverse thrust kick. Regal drills Goldust with a backelbow. Storm runs into an armdrag. Regal kicks Goldust from behind in the ropes. Storm clotheslines, snapmares and drops a leg. Goldust escapes a neck vice and telegraphs a dropkick with a jackknife pin for two. Goldust catches Storm in a Boss Man slam.

Regal pulls Booker off the apron as Goldust crawls towards a tag. Booker recovers, so Storm dropkicks him to the floor. Goldust finds his second wind as he gives Storm a flying clothesline and powerslam. Regal breaks up a pin and all four brawl. Storm ducks clothesline attempts and sends Goldust crashing into Booker. Storm wipes out Goldust with a heel kick to pick up the 1-2-3. I miss watching Lance Storm wrestle. Winners: LANCE STORM & WILLIAM REGAL. Booker gets on the mic to call a deflated Goldust back into the ring. They have nothing to be ashamed of, had a hell of a run and Booker enjoyed each and every second they were together. Both embrace and raise hands. Goldust would be electrocuted by Evolution later in the show to start his recurring Tourettes gimmick, while Booker went on to be squashed by Triple H at WrestleMania.

WCW Clash of the Champions XVII: November 19th 1991
WCW Tag Team Titles: The Enforcers vs Dustin Rhodes & Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat
Barry Windham was slated to team with Rhodes, but the Enforcers took him out at Halloween Havoc by slamming his wrist with a car door. A mystery guy comes out wearing a Green Dragon head and unmasks to reveal Steamboat (making his WCW return after two years away.) The Enforcers freak out. Arn Anderson starts with Steamboat, but all four men quickly slug it out and take the fight to the floor. The Enforcers get back in, but Steamboat soon puts them back outside. The champions re-group on the floor. Steamboat works over Larry Zbyszko’s arm, wrapping it around the ringpost twice, while Rhodes applies an armbar. Zbyszko manages to tag out and AA takes over in the corner. Rhodes catches AA on the top rope, but AA rakes the eyes and hits a double sledge. Rhodes gets his feet up on a charge and delivers bionic elbows to shift the tide once again and clear the ring.

After a commercial break, Steamboat’s lower region is being worked over as the Enforcers have cut the ring in half. AA puts his head down early, Steamboat faceplants, but AA grabs a leg to prevent a tag. Zbyszko delivers a backbreaker. Steamboat tries to slam, but Zbyszko falls on top. Steamboat absorbs a front facelock and bearhug. AA reverses a bodyscissors into a Boston Crab. Zbyszko pushes on AA for extra leverage. Rhodes complains, enabling the Enforcers to pull an illegal switcheroo. AA distracts the referee so that he misses Steamboat tag out, which frustrates Rhodes further. Steamboat atomic drops AA into the corner. As the Enforcer rebounds, both crack heads. AA goes high risk, but Steamboat gets his feet up. Rhodes tags in and attacks both opponents. Steamboat blind tags as Rhodes catches AA with a running bulldog. Steamboat surprises AA with a flying bodypress. Rhodes tackles Zbyszko as the referee counts 1-2-3 to give us new champions! This was a great way to re-introduce Steamboat, in a heated match in front of a hot crowd. Everyone was glad to see the Dragon back in WCW.
