Johann Sollgruber has been appointed acting head of the European Commission’s representation in Vienna, starting on 1 June, to fill the vacancy left by Richard Kühnel, who is moving to head the representation in Berlin. Sollgruber started his career at the Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vienna before joining the Commission’s regional policy department. He moved to the taxation and customs union department before switching back to the regional policy department, where he looked after SME policy, research and development policy, information society, the EU2020 strategy, co-ordination of the Lisbon Agenda, and he was desk officer for the Central Europe Programme.
