Sambhunath Dhali (35), a resident of Uttarpara in Hooghly district of West Bengal, has been booked on the charges of biting off a stray dog’s ear in a drunken condition.

A construction labourer, Dhali is an alcoholic and used to sleep on the pavements beside a busy road in Uttarpara. Every night he returned to the locality inebriated and threw tantrums, disturbing the neighborhood.

He was often confronted by the local stray dogs, who would bark at him.
