HAMBURG, Germany — World leaders gathered in Germany’s second largest city Friday for the 12th G20 summit, where they will discuss climate change, trade, and global security.

European leaders last week vowed to present a united front at the summit when they met in Berlin, signaling they were prepared to stand up to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Police in riot gear used water-cannons and tear gas to disperse anti-capitalist protesters who attempted to disrupt the summit Thursday evening. Hundreds of police officers were injured in the clashes.
