The Olympics are coming to London in 2012 and looking at Julian Macdonald’s collection for Spring/Summer 2008, sporty glam is the way forward.

All the usual suspects were in place at Julian Macdonald’s show. Paparazzi were snapping away to get the best shots of the glammed up it-girls from all over the world, with Shirley Bassey and Joan Collins ruling the front row. The sounds of classic ‘Diamonds are forever’ filled the space and set the pace for the young models to show next season’s look.

Sports inspired pieces were presented in vibrant brights like coral, turquoise and lemon and teamed up with basic black and white. Simple dresses with racer-backs, tops to be layered and patent hats set Julian Macdonald’s sporty glam tone. But by far the most striking and interesting pieces were his flowy dresses jazzed up with metallic studs around the bust and waist, and finished off with fringes in white and gold.

Even though Julian Macdonald’s signatures gorgeous gowns were nowhere near to be found, his take on the sporty look will definitely find its way to many wardrobes.
