WWE Wants a NJPW Star, Shafir & Duke Debut Tonight, Green on WWE

WWE is now said to be interested in signing one of the fastest rising stars in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The newest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that the company wants to bring back former NXT Superstar and current IWGP United States Champion Juice Robinson. Robinson previously competed for WWE in NXT as CJ Parker. It was reported in 2015 that he had requested his release from the company, and since then, he has transformed himself into a major star in Japan and on the independent wrestling circuit as Juice Robinson. While Robinson could very well end up moving back to WWE in the near future, he will likely continue to defend his US title in New Japan for the time being.
As reported earlier this week, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke will be making their NXT in-ring debuts very soon. The two former MMA “Horsewomen” officially joined WWE earlier this year and have been training at the WWE Performance Center ever since. WWE announced earlier today that the two of them will officially be wrestling in their first WWE matches during tonight’s NXT live event in Largo, Florida. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also confirmed their involvement in tonight’s show, and it was noted that Duke in particular has been impressive thus far in her training. Opponents for the former MMA fighters have not been revealed by WWE at this time, but expect Duke and Shafir to show off plenty of their skills during their match tonight.
Independent wrestling star and former Impact Knockouts Champion Chelsea Green recently took part in a WWE tryout at the company’s Performance Center. This officially marked Green’s second tryout with the company after she previously competed on the 2015 edition of Tough Enough. During an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Green discussed her WWE tryout and how confident she is that it went well. Green said that she went into this tryout with the desire to show off exactly what she is capable of, and even though she is not sure if WWE will bring back her in, Green noted that she visited the Performance Center knowing exactly what she is worth. “If they don’t want me, I am still happy with the performance that I gave. That’s all you can ask for.” Green also added during the interview.
